Type Locality and Naming

Along the Karasugat village, Fergana, Kyrgyzstan. A.S. Telenkov, 1964 (468, p.81). The The stratigraphic name has limited application. B.I. Pinhasov

Lithology and Thickness

Red-colored siltstone (aleurolites), pelites, gravelites, conglomerates. Thickness 190-310m.

It usually lies conformably on the Sumsar-Paleog Fm

It is often overlain unconformably by the Iskinaukat-Mioc Fm or unconformably by the Aldyr Fm

Regional extent

Fergana. V.I. Popov and others (166) correlate it with the Shurysay suite of the Tajik Depression. Along B.I. Pinhasov, it corresponds to the lower-middle Miocene of the Maylisay Fm.
